Career Goals

1st year:

  • Grow my own window washing business “Brighter Outlook Window Washing” large enough to hire at least 5 employees and also a manager who I can trust to carry on the business professionally while I pursue opportunities in my other ventures.

  • Also, grow window washing business to provide a lot more services like power washing, painting, roofing, and all sorts of things contractors and home owners need to keep the house looking fresh.

  • Write for Deseret News in the community section or for the Church News in the coming fall

  • Organize, promote, and carry out a dream of mine for a dunk-ball tournament.  This will be comparable to “Hoop it up” or other outdoor 3 on 3 basketball tournaments except the hoops will be at lower heights for dunking where dunks are worth as much as the shots made behind the 3 point line.  Call it “Grand Slam Dunk-ball Jam” and slogan is “Reward the Dunk.”

  • Accounting internship with the church to get to look into the numbers and acquisitions of the church across the world that I’m pretty curious about.  Or get some experience in doing accounting for a small business of someone I respect.

  • Create “Dream Catcher” day planner that uniquely and effectively helps to consecrate a person’s spiritual and physical life focusing on “Real-izing your Dreams” (living what you believe, and living your dreams to escape living in a dream)

  • Write book that gives background to principles behind the Dream Catcher“ and that answers the questions “What is the Rainbow Connection?” and “What’s on the Other side?”

2nd and 3rd years:

  • Get into BYU Marriot Business School’s Jr. Core Accounting program to get my major in accounting

  • Take the CPA exam in a state that will let me be a CPA without getting my MAcc.

  • Think I want to find a job with one of the Big 4 accounting firms because I hear they teach you how to really get the numbers right and get great experience with lots of major businesses/corporations but will be open to what options will give me the most real experience to help me manage and run my own business ventures and organizations I want to create throughout my life

2020 Vision (Career Goals by 2020)  :

  • Want to graduate from Harvard’s Business School with an MBA

  • Want to have a business that helps people develop their own personal websites to both publish their resume and portfolio of work and stuff in a professional way and also to share their blog, their movies, poems ,  and any art or writing that expresses all their thoughts and beliefs.  Essentially a link to view their world.  Call it “Open House” personal website developing.  More of a service than big money making business.

  • Want to work for the Deseret News in both their financial department and as a writer and producer for the paper.

  • Don’t know what businesses I want to create by 2020 yet but know that I want have a venture capital capital firm called “Word Capital” with slogan “the most incredible thing about us is our Credibility.”  Run the firm using my journalism skills and experience to scout, hire, and assemble “news teams” of researchers.  Have outstanding R&D teams of accountants, legal experts, engineers, land surveyors, real estate agents, culture and historian experts, and bunch of other teams that will work the way news teams would with finding the sources of information we need through interviews and research and being able to all come together and report back and analyze all the information and put it together and produce ways of broadcasting back to the companies we investigated and then help them make highly informed decisions with their companies.

  • To add to that last run on sentence I want to do it all in business and my main goal is to be able to have a venture capital firm for philanthropy that helps people successfully start and run their own businesses or non-profit/ charities and live their dreams
